Bathroom specialist takes on 34 DAF trucks
PJH has invested in new contract hire vehicles from Asset Alliance Group as part of a major fleet renewal programme. The leading bathrooms, appliances, sinks and taps distributor has taken delivery of 14 DAF XF tractor units, and 20 new 7.5-tonne DAF LF box trucks in a multi-million-pound, multi-year deal.
The deal, which includes the repair and maintenance of the hire vehicles, provides PJH with surety and peace of mind. Shaun Berry, national transport manager at PJH, said:
Our vehicle fleet has grown by 30 per cent in just over three years. Having vehicles on contract hire means we are in control of our monthly overheads, knowing the fleet is always maintained to the highest standards.
The vehicles will be used to renew PJH’s distribution and home delivery fleet, with the operator typically replacing 30 to 40 vehicles every year for reliability and to maintain its professional image, ensuring its team of 185 drivers are well resourced.
The two companies have worked together since 2018 and the relationship has more miles to run with Asset Alliance Group due to supply 21 MAN TGE panel vans to PJH later this year. As one of the UK’s largest suppliers of bathrooms, appliances, sinks and taps, PJH carries out 3,000 store and home deliveries for retailer B&Q each week. It also supplies its products to independent retailers, builders’ merchants and house builders.
