Carl Hood, group logistics controller at Furniture Village, said: “It was a tight schedule and from the green flag going down, we moved very quickly.”
The new store in Glasgow is only Furniture Village’s second in Scotland after Edinburgh opened last year and at 50,000sq ft its biggest in the 58-strong estate. The Hillington Park site also features a 17,000sq ft fulfilment centre, which will be home to the vehicles and could support further expansion in the country.
To mark the occasion, Asset Alliance Group sourced custom plates for the DAFs – FV 25 FVL and FV 24 FVL.
The 7.5-tonne box body trucks are equipped with Dhollandia tail lifts and will be double-manned and used for home deliveries.
Conforming with Furniture Village’s preferred approach, the vehicles have been supplied on a five-year contract hire basis with full repair and maintenance, including tyres.
The new vehicles were painted and had livery fitted by Midlands-based commercial vehicle specialist WCC.
