Telematics firm Microlise is continuing its expansion in the commercial vehicle world, picking up 400 new customers in the past year.
Nadeen Raza, Microlise CEO, said: “We are increasing our market share. The entire market is open to us, but we are focused on the mid to large operators.”
Microlise is integrating AI across its product range, most recently into updates to its in-cab camera, as it expands its portfolio to appeal to both truck and van operators.
“The product landscape is changing and we have to be innovative to keep up with that,” Raza said. “Change is coming over the next one to two years and it will be dramatic.”
One area of focus is supporting customers’ transition to electric vehicles, but progress is hampered by poor infrastructure for trucks and insufficient range for vans. Meanwhile, the data it needs to provide advice about routes which could be electrified is tricky to access.
“Data from a diesel vehicle is easy but with electric vehicles it is very difficult – there isn’t the same quantity or quality of data,” Raza said. “The vehicles are simpler than diesel, but the issues are with charging and range versus what it says on the tin and we have to learn that for each new truck and van model that comes out.”
