This conquest deal sees the Isuzu trucks replace another manufacturer's brand in the 80-strong mixed commercial vehicle fleet.

Mounted with tipper bodies from Brooks Engineering, they will operate throughout the Midlands, carrying tools and associated materials to excavation sites, alongside transporting tarmac for surface work repairs.

Clive Smedley, plant and transport manager for Trust Utility Management, said: “We’ve always specified other manufacturers in the past, but would occasionally rent an Isuzu when our trucks went in for repair, so we were comfortable with the product and knew it was well-suited to our work.

“But the biggest eye opener was when we compared Isuzu’s repair and maintenance costs for a 7.5-tonner, versus the costs we were paying for other marques in our fleet. Not only could we unlock a significant cost-saving, it served as a great indication for just how reliable the Isuzu trucks would be, which gives us real peace of mind moving forwards.”

Both new vehicles feature lockable tool pods behind the cab for the safe storage of petrol-powered equipment and machinery. They have also been fitted with a five-camera system, including one interior and four external cameras, to improve driver safety and bolster vehicle security.

They are expected to be on the road up to six days per week and will remain in service for five years, averaging 50,000 miles annually.
