Lightfoot to offset carbon footprint of CV Show visitors

Lightfoot and The Commercial Vehicle Show are working together to ensure the event, held at the NEC in Birmingham from Tuesday April 29 to Thursday May 1, is carbon neutral - and visitors can help make it happen.

Lightfoot is asking attendees to enter their travel details, such as mode of transport and distance, at the entrance to the event.

The data will then be used to calculate the emissions footprint of all visitors - expected to number more than 15,000 - and working with its carbon offset partner Evertreen, will plant trees to make the event carbon neutral.

Look out for two large iPad-style screens by the entrance: entering your travel details such as a vehicle type, petrol, diesel, plug-in, electric or public transport, and an approximate mileage should take seconds using a drop-down menu.

Lightfoot Chief Executive Officer Paul Hollick said: “Our driver coaching and telematics technology is proven to help with the decarbonisation of commercial fleets, and so we wanted to bring that philosophy to The CV Show.

“Obviously we couldn’t fit our driver coaching technology - which reduces our customers CO2 emissions and fuel use by around 15% - into the vehicles of every visitor so this is a very good solution to ensure the CV Show reduces its carbon footprint.”

Director of The CV Show, Mike Costain said: “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Lightfoot to make this year’s CV Show carbon neutral. When the idea was presented to us, it immediately aligned with our values.

“Decarbonisation is at the heart of this year’s event - a focus that’s clearly reflected in both our exhibitors and content agenda. We’re excited to collaborate with Lightfoot to drive meaningful change within the industry.”

The Commercial Vehicle Show stands as the UK's ultimate event for road freight, transport, distribution, and logistics. Since its inception in 2000, it has evolved into the largest and most influential gathering of commercial vehicle manufacturers, dealers, distributors, and suppliers.

This event is where the industry’s leaders - senior decision-makers, directors, managers, and engineers - come to see the latest innovations in vehicles, trailers, equipment, and cutting-edge technology.

“The CV Show is the biggest event in the commercial vehicle calendar, and so we are delighted to be working with them to try and make it the greenest too,” Hollick added.
