A new fully electric ‘Cargo Box’ Luton van is being launched by auto giant Stellantis. Converted at the Italian Atessa plant, where the group’s Citroën Relay, Fiat Professional Ducato, Peugeot Boxer and Vauxhall Movano large vans are manufactured, the new Luton versions will be available in two models.

The smaller variant offers cargo capacity of 18.3cu m along with interior dimensions of 4,230mm length, 2,032mm width and 2,150mm height. For customers needing extra cargo space, the L4 configuration expands the cargo volume to 20.5cu m, with an internal length of 4,500mm and a height of 2,300mm.

Both are based on the battery electric chassis cab version, which features a 270hp motor with 410Nm of torque and pairs it with a 110kWh battery, for a driving range of up to 323km (201 miles). At the same time, Stellantis has enhanced the battery electric versions of its large vans with a new 22kW AC charging option, which allows for a full recharge in six hours, halving charging time compared to the standard 11kW solution.

The Luton box van conversions are offered under Stellantis’ growing CustomFit conversion and customisation programme, which now covers 50% of Stellantis Pro One CV production and also includes integration with solutions developed in collaboration with a network of over 550 certified partners worldwide. The inhouse conversion programme cuts lead times for vehicle operators and is also said to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety.

The new conversions are expected to launch in the UK later this year, with prices still to be announced.
