Messy vans cause time wasting for trades people

Trades people lose 51 minutes a week, or more than 40 hours a year on average, due to messy vans, according to a survey by Draper Tools brand Bunker.

Some 77% of trades people said their messy vans were affecting their mental state, while 30% reported that they often waste time searching for tools and essentials.

However, 41% of people surveyed said they know where everything is in their van, while 32% said they take pride in organising their van.

Sarah Hartland, head of marketing for Bunker Storage, said: “We know that trades people are some of the hardest workers out there – it’s a stressful job, with long hours, challenging conditions and the perpetual threat of tool theft. With all that going on, it’s no wonder some trades just don’t have time to keep their vans as organised as they’d like to.”

A recent survey found that 90% of tradespeople are worried about tool theft. To combat this, Bunker has launched a series of van tool storage solutions, all of which are designed to withstand heavy loads.

The toolboxes hold ‘Secured By Design’ status and have received a silver rating from Sold Secure.

Hartland said: “As part of creating our van storage range, we really wanted to listen to the industry, understand their concerns and how we could help make life easier. While the issue of theft is multifaceted, we want to play our part with solutions that offer protection and reassurance.

“That’s why the Bunker van storage range is packed with anti-theft design features including a Bluetooth tracker holder on every storage box.

“We’ve really tried to put security at the heart of this range, alongside organisation, to help give the nation’s hardworking trades people peace of mind.”
