The D-Max once again proved its towing credentials, securing the title thanks to its outstanding strength, stability and capability. This latest achievement follows on from its success in the Parkers’ Best Pickups for Towing test, marking the second award this year that highlights the model’s superior towing performance.
For the Caravan and Motorhome Club Towcar of the Year, Isuzu entered its limited-run D-Max STEEL Edition, finished in exclusive Steel Grey Mica. Limited to 300 models, the special edition boasts premium features including puddle lamps, electric folding mirrors, wheel arch extensions and distinctive STEEL Edition branding inside and out. The test vehicle was also equipped with an electric roller shutter, sports bars, a rooftop lightbar, and a factory-fitted tow bar with electrics, making D-Max ideally suited to demonstrate its practical towing capabilities.
With its 3.5-tonne towing capacity, one-tonne payload, and selectable 4WD system, the D-Max offers premium comfort and true workhorse capability. Advanced features such as Trailer Sway Control (TSC) ensure smooth and safe driving when towing, while excellent visibility, a torquey powertrain and superb handling stability combine to deliver a seamless experience.
James Batchelor, driving judge at the Caravan and Motorhome Club Towcar of the Year Awards, praised the D-Max, commenting: “We’ve been impressed by the Isuzu D-Max for years and in 2026 it’s this car’s moment to shine. This is one rugged and no-nonsense pick-up that can be relied upon to deliver a towing experience that’s safe and dependable.”
