A new all-wheel-drive version of the E-Transit Custom is being planned for launch next year. Scheduled for arrival from spring, it’s aimed at customers needing enhanced traction and capability.
The all-wheel-drive drivetrain takes the existing rear-wheel layout and adds an additional motor for the front wheels. The two independent front and rear drive units provide optimum torque to all four wheels, maximising traction and capability on steep inclines and enabling enhanced vehicle dynamics.
Specifications are yet to be announced but the rear-wheel-drive E-Transit Custom comes with either 136hp or 217hp (100kW or 160kW) motors, each offering 415Nm of torque, along with a more powerful 285hp (210kW) motor exclusively in the E-Transit Custom MS-RT model.
The existing RWD version of Ford Pro’s electric one-tonne van also features a 74kWh (64kWh useable) battery for a maximum driving range of up to 209 miles and is equipped with a standard-fit vapour-injected heat pump technology to enhance range and regenerative braking for one-pedal driving.
