Cheadle Hulme-based haulier David Bratt & Sons has added the first Volvo trucks to its fleet for more than 20 years with the arrival of two new Volvo FH Aero 6x2 tractor units.
The decision was made following a successful trial with a demonstrator from local dealer Thomas Hardie Commercials, which highlighted the FH Aeros’ supreme fuel performance and working environment.
Stephen Bratt, joint managing director, said: “Although we have predominantly run other manufacturers in recent years, whenever the time comes for a fleet refresh or expansion, we always make sure we do our due diligence on what products are out there in the market.
“Needless to say, we were suitably impressed with the performance of the Aero demonstrator which highlighted the exceptional driver comfort and fuel efficiency of the latest Volvo trucks.”
The two new Aeros are powered by Euro VI-compliant D13TC Step E engines which utilise turbo compounding to produce up to 460hp and a peak torque of 2,600Nm. By opting for Volvo’s turbo-compound technology, David Bratt & Sons’ drivers can maintain lower revs and a higher gear for a longer time to deliver a more fuel-efficient journey.
The engines are paired with a 12-speed I-Shift automated gearbox and I-See predictive cruise control to maximise sustainability benefits.
