ScotCharge involves three of the UK’s leading fleet electrification firms and is backed by Transport Scotland through its £2 million HGV Market Readiness Fund. Fleete, Vev and Dynamon have joined forces to deliver a roadmap for electrifying the nation’s 36,500-strong HGV fleet.

The ScotCharge consortium unites the full electrification value chain, combining data analytics, infrastructure deployment and fleet transition expertise, with the aim of creating an investment-ready plan that will set fleets on a smooth path to full electrification.

Wider consortium members include around 50 members of Scotland’s transport sector, including fleet operators, vehicle manufacturers and independent distribution network operators. The initial business case is due to be delivered in December, with a full report set for completion by March next year.

Amber Jamieson, HGV decarbonisation team leader at Transport Scotland, said: “The HGV Market Readiness Fund is enabling operators, manufacturers, financiers, and charge point providers to collaborate on innovative projects that drive investment in HGV decarbonisation.

“The response from the sector has been strong, with high quality consortium projects proposed. These business cases will help identify opportunities to leverage private investment alongside public funding, accelerating the transition to zero-emission HGV fleets and supporting infrastructure across Scotland.”

Key elements of the programme will include fleet data analysis led by Dynamon to identify electrifiable routes, optimal EVs, optimal charging infrastructure, site power requirements and total cost of ownership.
