Major upgrades for new Vauxhall Vivaro

Vauxhall has announced the launch of a new Vivaro Electric, which will offer a longer range and a lower price than the model it replaces when it goes on sale at the end of the year.

As well as a number of revisions, the new van will have a WLTP range of up to 217 miles, a 12-mile increase, while prices start from £42,055 (ex-VAT), £2,580 lower than the outgoing model.

The new Vivaro will also be available with a choice of diesel engines, with prices for these starting at £27,555 (ex-VAT) James Taylor, managing director at Vauxhall, said:

Our Vivaro is now even more modern, practical and sustainable. With a newly-updated digital cockpit and an extended electric driving range, the all-rounder is the heart of our LCV offensive.

Sales of Vivaro and Vivaro Electric are scheduled to start by the end of this year, with full specification and pricing details for the full line-up to be announced close to when orders open.

Vivaro Electric can be charged using the standard 7.4kW onboard charger (11kW charger is optional), while it can also be recharged from 5-80 per cent capacity in 45 minutes at a 100kW DC charge point.

Powered by a 136PS electric motor, it has a regenerative braking system that has three recuperation levels.

Vivaro Electric also features an ‘e-Power Take-Off Unit’ which can be used to supply smaller tools or fridge units for cooled vans with power from the traction battery.

All versions feature the brand’s Vizor front end, while the cabin features two 10-inch screens – a driver information display and touchscreen - and wireless smartphone connectivity. Storage spaces around the instrument panel and centre console are now larger. Vivaro features 18 advanced driver assistance systems, including dynamic surround vision, which comprises two cameras, one located above the rear doors and another under the passenger-side exterior mirror. The images are displayed in a rear-view mirror. Other safety systems available include front park assist, high beam assist, intelligent speed assist, lane keep assist, driver attention alert and adaptive cruise control.
