The first trailer manufacturer joining the programme is Schmitz Cargobull, the manufacturer of semi-trailers for temperature-controlled freight, general cargo and bulk goods.
Commercial fleet operators can now connect Schmitz Cargobull trailers with Webfleet via factory-fitted telematics, eliminating the need for aftermarket hardware installations. This way they can access powerful trailer data to boost trailer utilisation, reduce downtime and improve overall safety and security.
“Trailers are the backbone of long-haul goods transportation, but managing a trailer fleet can be challenging,’’ said Taco van der Leij, vice-president Webfleet Europe at Bridgestone Mobility Solutions. “Making our Webfleet Trailer solution now easily accessible via OEM data will help even more businesses with real-time data insights and actionable intelligence maximise trailer performance.”
Sören Danielsen, manager strategy and business development at Schmitz Cargobull, added: "With the Trailer Connect Data Management Centre from Schmitz Cargobull, hauliers have full control over their data and can pass on selected data to third parties in an efficient way. By intelligently linking information on the vehicle, more than just position and temperature data can be selected, processed and transmitted to third-party systems at the touch of a button. The Trailer Connect Data Management Centre stands for connectivity and transparency. Everyone involved along the supply chain benefits from this."
